About The Mix
Mondayjazz mix No 144
OYst...Ill Down Town presents works by Japanese music maker
Sato. It also shows an example of good balance. Basically it is balance between modernity and traditions, that is so inherent to lots of spheres in Japan. So in this mix it is duality between sounds of Beats and flow of instrumental hip-hop. It sounds modern, up to date and everything, but unlike most of Beats (or as it is sometimes called Wonky) it is closer to hip-hop, than electronics. It is hard to seclude in words this thin line, but when you hear it, you see it. Or lets say, do you often hear a sound of scratch in Beats compilations? Plus despite complexity and multiple layers of sound, you still can rap on most of the compositions.
Maybe it is aproach that can propel hip-hop from stagnation it is facing, while maintaining what it is all about?
