About The Mix
This weeks hero – Canadian
DJ Double K is not only a dj and record collector, but also an operator of site
parkdalefunk.com, which in some way is relative to Mondayjazz. It is devoted to funk, soul, jazz, latin and reggae music and regularly hosts mixes of these styles.
DJ Double K himself mostly focuses on heavy and deep funk, trying to present music that is forgotten or unnoticed.
So MJ mix No. 106 performs the same function. Already from it’s name
Funky Snack can be understood that it reigns funk. Full tracklist is drawn exclusively from 45’s. Tunes are mostly old, but
DJ Double K tries also to pay attention to contemporary soulboys and from time to time deliver something new. Interestingly, the selection of new cuts did not disembark from the general context and in practice it‘s even hard to distinguish which tracks are old and which are new. Another distinctive feature of this mix is high energy, which occurs not necessary in tempo but is very strong and clearly felt.
There is hardly a need to waste any more words, so just open your ears for the magical rarities shot!
