      Jon Kennedy, a leading light of the UK trip hop and downtempo scene, played our Mondayjazz launch party this April. Last week we got the news that Jon has given us an exclusive pre-release of his new mix for Mondayjazz, to be released later on Grand Central Recordings.
      Jon Kennedy is foremost a musician and secondly a DJ. You can feel it while listening to this mix: “One 4orty”. Gus Gus and Jimi Hendrix, Inverse Cinematics and Beck, Jon Kennedy himself and Rage Against the Machine playing together in 52 minute concert. But don’t call it “eclectic” or we will have to shoot you.
      A clash of totally different styles, trends and tempos being played together, creating a very distinctive and coherent feeling. It is a cinematic compilation, where today’s broken beat interlaces with trippy downtempo, electronica, and the roots of rock and hip hop.
